Hajia Mohammed Zainab Sadda, a prominent Katsina-based activist and All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftess with senatorial ambitions for Katsina Central, endorsed the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Katsina State Governor Dikko Umar Radda for the 2027 elections, as reported by The Nation and Naija News. In an interview with The Nation in Katsina, Sadda cited opinion polls and political surveys across Katsina’s 34 Local Government Areas (LGAs), which she claimed showed overwhelming support for both leaders due to their performance and projects at local, state, and federal levels. She stated, “The people are satisfied with the performance of President Tinubu at the local, state, and federal governments levels and the various projects carried out for them,” dismissing opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, saying, “Nigerians have written off Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and co. Katsina people don’t know them either,” per The Nation.
Sadda praised Governor Radda’s commitment to local government autonomy, stating, “I want to assure Katsina people that Governor Dikko Radda remains committed to granting full autonomy to local governments and firmly believes that allowing them to function independently is not a burden on his administration but rather an opportunity for grassroots development,” per Naija News. She highlighted Radda’s initiatives, such as the N5.7 billion Goat Rearing Initiative launched in February 2025 to empower women, and his focus on security through community-driven intelligence, per Tribune Online and Leadership. Tinubu’s projects, including the Renewed Hope Agenda and palliatives distribution, were also lauded, with Katsina receiving N5 billion for food distribution, per Leadership.
Support for Tinubu and Radda was echoed by other APC figures, including former CPC youth leaders and Minister of Housing Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, who in October 2023 credited Radda for influencing his appointment, per Blueprint. An X post by @mickiebrownkie on April 30, 2025, amplified Sadda’s endorsement, reflecting APC sentiment, per *post:0⁊. However, critics, including residents and a Katsina group, accused Radda of sabotaging federal projects, like the N147.6 billion Katsina-Kankara road contract cancellation in July 2024, alleging political motives, per Leadership. Opposition voices, like PDP’s Dele Momodu, argued only a Northern candidate could challenge Tinubu, per Naija News.web:2,9
Despite Katsina’s 2023 presidential vote favoring Atiku Abubakar over Tinubu, Sadda’s claims align with Radda’s 27% gubernatorial victory margin, per Wikipedia. Tinubu’s administration has prioritized Katsina through ministerial appointments and initiatives like the 10-megawatt windfarm, which Radda aims to hybridize with solar, per Authorityngr. Sadda’s endorsement, while optimistic, faces skepticism given economic challenges like 34.8% inflation and local discontent over project delays, per Leadership.
