Warner Bros. Pictures is exploring a live-action adaptation of the iconic 1960s animated series “The Jetsons.” Early reports indicate that Jim Carrey is in talks for a starring role, potentially as George Jetson, while Colin Trevorrow is negotiating to direct. Trevorrow, along with co-writer Joe Epstein, is expected to bring their creative talent to the project.

“The Jetsons,” created by Hanna-Barbera, debuted in 1962, showcasing the Jetson family’s life in a whimsical future filled with flying cars and robots. The series originally aired for one season but returned in 1985 with 51 more episodes and was notably the first color program on ABC. It continued to expand with “The Jetsons: The Movie” in 1990 and made cameo appearances in projects like “Space Jam: A New Legacy.”

Carrey, known for his energetic performances, recently portrayed Dr. Robotnik in the “Sonic the Hedgehog” series, which has grossed over $1 billion globally. His extensive career includes hits like “The Mask” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective,” making him one of Hollywood’s top stars.

Trevorrow has proven his directorial talents with the successful “Jurassic World” franchise, capturing both blockbuster spectacle and character depth. His previous work, including the acclaimed “Safety Not Guaranteed,” adds further credentials to his potential leadership on this project, while Epstein’s experience as a showrunner and writer suggests a modern and engaging screenplay.
