The sexual assault lawsuit filed against Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs by an anonymous woman, known as Jane Doe, has been dropped. The case, which claimed the two rappers assaulted her when she was 13 years old at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards, was voluntarily dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled.
Jay-Z has described the dismissal as a victory, stating that the allegations were “frivolous, fictitious and appalling.” His attorney, Alex Spiro, emphasized that the case “never should have been brought.” The dismissal came after there were several inconsistencies noted in Jane Doe’s allegations, although she maintained her claims were true to the best of her memory.
Diddy, on the other hand, is still facing numerous other lawsuits related to sexual misconduct, abuse, and criminal charges including sex trafficking and racketeering. However, in this specific case with Jay-Z, the allegations have been withdrawn.
This development has been covered by multiple news outlets, highlighting Jay-Z’s relief and statement regarding the trauma experienced by his family due to these accusations.
