Iran’s hardline judiciary chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, said on Saturday that the Islamic republic will continue targeting regional neighbors whose territories are used against Iran in military operations.

“Evidence from Iran’s armed forces shows that the geography of some countries in the region is openly and covertly at the disposal of the enemy,” Ejei said. He added that “heavy s on these targets will continue” with the agreement of the government and other pillars of the system.

Ejei is a member of the interim leadership council installed after Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was ed in US-Israeli strikes on February 28, which escalated hostilities in the Gulf.

Since the outbreak of the conflict, Iran has carried out strikes on Gulf countries, some targeting civilian infrastructure, although Tehran claims its s are aimed only at US assets or military bases. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian earlier apologized for s on neighboring countries and promised restraint unless their territories are used in operations against Iran. Gulf countries maintain that their lands have not been used to Iran and have repeatedly declared they would prevent such actions.

Despite these assurances, Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, warned that peace in the region is impossible “as long as American bases exist in the region,” emphasizing that Iranian officials and citizens are united in this stance.

The escalation highlights growing tensions in the Gulf region and raises concerns over the safety of civilians amid ongoing military confrontations.
