Tensions in the Middle East have escalated sharply after Iran warned it could target key infrastructure across the region if Donald Trump follows through on his threat to strike Iranian power facilities.

Trump issued a 48 hour ultimatum demanding that Iran reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical النفط route that handles roughly a fifth of global crude oil trade. He warned that failure to comply would result in the destruction of major Iranian power plants.

In response, Iranian military authorities said any on their facilities would trigger retaliation against United States linked infrastructure in the region, including energy, information technology, and desalination systems.
