The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has urged its members worldwide to support the medical care and legal defence of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, citing rising costs associated with his ongoing case.

In a memorandum dated February 13, IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful directed coordinators, unit leaders, and members across the group’s global network to mobilise assistance. The memo noted that Kanu had appealed for support for organisations that have assisted him during his legal proceedings and health challenges, including the American Veterans of Igbo Descent, Ambassadors for Self-Determination, and the Rising Sun Foundation.

The memo highlighted that Kanu’s detention outside Abuja has increased logistical costs for legal representatives and medical personnel, creating additional financial pressure. IPOB emphasised the importance of sustained medical attention alongside legal defence, while no specific medical details were provided.

Members were also urged to remain united, avoid internal disputes, verify information through official channels, and counter misinformation calmly. The statement encouraged voluntary participation in support initiatives and stressed solidarity while the legal process continues.
