IGP Egbetokun Reaffirms Commitment to Affordable Housing for Police Officers

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing housing welfare for police personnel across Nigeria.

The announcement followed a courtesy visit by the Managing Director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN), Mr. Shehu Usman Osidi, and his management team to the Force Headquarters in Abuja. CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, Force Public Relations Officer, said the meeting highlighted ongoing collaboration between the Nigeria Police Force and FMBN to provide officers with access to housing benefits and mortgage facilities.

During the visit, Osidi expressed appreciation for the warm reception and described the Nigeria Police Force as one of FMBN’s most strategic institutional partners. He urged strengthened cooperation to ensure police personnel can access housing support seamlessly, without administrative bottlenecks or disputes.

IGP Egbetokun described the visit as timely and significant, emphasizing that strategic institutional partnerships are critical for delivering sustainable housing solutions for officers nationwide. He stressed that the welfare of police personnel is a top priority under his leadership, noting that access to affordable and decent housing contributes to morale, efficiency, and the overall well-being of officers who risk their lives daily.

The IGP assured the FMBN leadership of the Force’s continued cooperation in initiatives aimed at improving living conditions for police officers, both during active service and in retirement. He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to fostering partnerships that uphold the dignity and welfare of its personnel, reinforcing the Force’s dedication to supporting those who serve the nation.
