Hunter Found Dead in Ogun Forest with Bullet Wounds, Companion Missing

A hunter identified as Femi has been found dead with bullet wounds in a forest in the Ijebu Igbo area of Ogun State. The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, shared in a statement that Femi, who had reportedly gone hunting with an individual named Taoreed on Friday, failed to return home, raising concerns among family and villagers.

According to Odutola, Femi’s wife, Grace James, reported her husband’s disappearance to the village head when he did not return the following morning. The village head organized a search party with local hunters, and during their search, they found Femi’s body lying in the forest. He appeared to have suffered multiple bullet wounds, and his hunting gun was found nearby.

“On 26/10/2024, around 7 a.m., the village head was informed of Femi’s disappearance,” Odutola explained. “A search party was immediately organized, and Femi’s body was eventually found with bullet wounds on his back. His gun lay on the ground beside him.”

The incident took a mysterious turn when it was discovered that Taoreed, who had accompanied Femi, had disappeared along with his wife and children. Efforts to locate Taoreed in the village have proven unsuccessful, heightening suspicions surrounding his involvement in the tragic incident.

Odutola confirmed that the police have launched an investigation into Femi’s death and the disappearance of Taoreed and his family. “The body has been moved to the State Hospital in Ijebu-Ode for an autopsy,” she added, noting that the results may provide further insights into the cause of death and possibly shed light on what transpired in the forest that day.

This case has cast a somber shadow over the community as villagers and authorities work to unravel the circumstances surrounding Femi’s death and Taoreed’s sudden disappearance.
