The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has unveiled the fare for Nigerians intending to perform the 2025 Hajj in Saudi Arabia, setting costs between N8,327,125.59 and N8,784,085.59. This announcement, made this morning, was confirmed by NAHCON following approval from the Office of the Vice-President.
Fatima Sanda Usara, the Assistant Director of Information and Publications for NAHCON, detailed in a release that the fares were a result of extensive collaboration between NAHCON, the Presidency, and the leadership of the Forum of State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards.
Here’s how the fares break down:
Adamawa/Borno Zone (comprising Adamawa, Borno, Taraba, and Yobe states): Intending pilgrims will pay N8,327,125.59.
Northern Zone (the remaining 15 Northern states): The fare is set at N8,457,685.59.
Southern States: Pilgrims from these states are expected to pay N8,784,085.59.
Usara highlighted the collective effort to keep the fares comparable to previous years, stating, “NAHCON, the Presidency, and state pilgrims welfare boards did their best to maintain the Hajj fare within the same range as previously charged.”
The announcement emphasized the collaborative approach, with key figures like Malam Ameen Amshi, Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties, and state executives like Malam Idris Ahmad Almakura from Nasarawa State, Alhaji Faruku Aliyu Yaro from Kebbi State, and Alhaji Abubakar Salihu from Adamawa State, all playing crucial roles in the decision-making process to keep costs manageable.
NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, described the fare as “a product of extensive collaboration” and expressed gratitude towards all stakeholders involved. He also urged intending pilgrims to adhere to the payment and registration deadlines to ensure a smooth Hajj experience, emphasizing, “The Chairman urged prospective pilgrims to take note of the timelines and Saudi guidelines while emphasising the importance of early payment and timely registration to avoid last-minute inconveniences.”
This year‘s Hajj fare announcement not only reflects the ongoing efforts to manage costs but also underscores the importance of cooperation and strategic planning in facilitating one of the world’s largest religious pilgrimages for Nigerian Muslims.
