Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has once again alleged that the 2018 governorship election was rigged against him. Speaking during an interview on Wazobia TV, Adeleke maintained that his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), did not win the election fairly.
“I didn’t lose to Oyetola; they stole the mandate of the people of Osun State,” Adeleke asserted, reiterating his long-held position on the controversial election results.
A Comprehensive Victory in 2022
Reflecting on his resounding victory in the 2022 governorship race, Adeleke described it as both decisive and divinely orchestrated. “I won it, and I didn’t just win it; I defeated him comprehensively (I no just win am, I flog am),” he said.
The governor attributed his triumph to divine intervention, revealing his belief that God played a pivotal role in frustrating attempts to manipulate the outcome. “God hid 200,000 votes after my opponents tried to rig the election,” he stated.
He also credited divine influence for causing disunity among his opponents, which he believes was instrumental in his eventual success. “God put disunity in my opponent’s camp, and that made them fight themselves before I returned from America,” he added.
Governance Without Borrowing
Governor Adeleke emphasized his commitment to financial prudence, clarifying that he has not borrowed funds to govern Osun State. Instead, he revealed that he has redirected his security vote to support infrastructure and development projects.
“I have never borrowed funds; instead, I set aside my security vote for infrastructure and development in Osun State,” Adeleke explained.
Prioritizing Agriculture and Infrastructure
Highlighting his administration’s focus on agriculture, the governor stressed the importance of good road networks for farmers to access markets. “When you’re doing agriculture and people have farms, but if they don’t have good roads, how are they going to access the city to sell their produce?” he asked.
The Dancing Governor’s Strategy
Known for his love of dancing, Adeleke explained that his passion for dance is also a tactical move. “It’s my tactic to deceive my opponents,” he shared with a smile, adding a personal touch to his public persona.
Gratitude and Resilience
Reflecting on his journey, Adeleke expressed gratitude to God for both his successes and challenges, underscoring his belief in perseverance and divine guidance.
As he continues to lead Osun State, Governor Adeleke remains steadfast in his commitment to delivering infrastructure, fostering agricultural growth, and upholding financial accountability, all while maintaining his signature charm and resilience.
