Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, former APC National Chairman and ex‑Governor of Kano State, expressed deep sorrow over recent attacks in Shanono and Tsanyawa that left three dead and several women and children abducted.

In a statement signed by Muhammad Garba, Ganduje called the raids “tragic, painful, and deeply distressing.” He said the violence is a direct attack on community peace and must be met with urgent care and firm action.

Ganduje offered condolences to the families and to people in the affected areas. He said the trauma from these events requires a swift, coordinated response and support for victims.

He urged the Kano State government to use proactive, intelligence‑led, community‑based security measures. He warned the pattern of attacks is growing and cannot be ignored.

Ganduje asked authorities to adopt methods that worked during his time in office (2015–2023), such as stronger local vigilance groups, layered community policing, better sharing of intelligence, closer coordination with security agencies, and crime‑prevention plans tied to local development.

He noted these approaches helped reduce rural banditry and urban crime during his term and asked the state to adapt them now.

Ganduje praised the responses of Niger, Kwara, Kebbi and some other states, saying their quick action, teamwork and community links helped protect people and property.

He also welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s steps to strengthen the nation’s security, modernise the armed forces, and boost operational capacity across security services.

The former governor appealed to residents to stay calm but alert, and to work with security forces by giving timely information that can help prevent further attacks.

Ganduje closed by stressing that ending insecurity needs all hands on deck, citizens, traditional leaders, government and security agencies must act together to restore peace.
