“Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” achieved remarkable success at the box office, debuting with $63 million across 3,412 theaters in the U.S. and Canada over the post thanksgiving weekend. This opening sets a record for the highest debut for a PG-13 horror film in 2025 and positions it as the second-largest horror premiere of the year, following “The Conjuring: Last Rites.” Despite facing predominantly negative critiques regarding its storytelling and scares, the film resonated with aunces, with 70% of viewers expressing they would recommend it to friends.

Continuing the narrative from its predecessor, the sequel explores deeper mysteries of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, featuring returning cast members Josh Hutcherson, Matthew Lillard, and Elizabeth Lail, and was produced on a budget of $36 million. Internationally, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2” added $46 million, totaling a global opening weekend of $109 million. This performance contributed to a strong post-Thanksgiving box office, with a three-day domestic gross of $153.8 million, reflecting a 10.8% increase compared to the same weekend in 2024.

Additionally, star Josh Hutcherson hinted at more surprises in the sequel, promising an increased number of animatronics, jump scares, and an exciting twist, indicating a strong potential for future installments in the franchise.
