The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on Nigerians to prioritize environmental protection and cleanliness as a shared societal responsibility. She made the appeal in Abuja on Monday while commemorating the International Day of Clean Energy 2026, themed “Clean Energy for People and Planet.”
In her message, Tinubu emphasized that the day serves as a reminder of the collective duty to safeguard the environment and adopt sustainable practices. She encouraged Nigerians to embrace renewable energy and clean technologies, highlighting their importance for survival, healthy living, and environmental stewardship.
“Let us work together to build a greener, healthier planet for all,” the First Lady said, urging individuals, communities, and institutions to take proactive steps toward sustainability. She also extended greetings to Nigerians on the occasion, wishing them a happy International Day of Clean Energy.
The International Day of Clean Energy, observed annually on January 26, was declared by the United Nations General Assembly through resolution A/77/327. The day aims to raise awareness and mobilize global action for a just and inclusive transition to clean energy, benefiting both people and the planet.
Tinubu’s call underscores the importance of collective responsibility in addressing environmental challenges, promoting renewable energy adoption, and ensuring sustainable development for present and future generations.
