President Tinubu is expected to arrive in the United Kingdom on March 18 2026 while the official state visit will begin on March 19. During the visit the Nigerian leader and his wife Oluremi Tinubu will be hosted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle.

The event is particularly significant because it will mark the first time a Nigerian leader will receive a state honour at Windsor Castle instead of the traditional venue at Buckingham Palace.

According to presidential aide Temitope Ajayi the visit is expected to showcase the enduring relationship between the two countries and deepen cooperation across multiple sectors.

Tinubu will become the fifth Nigerian leader to receive a state visit invitation from the UK following former leaders Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Yakubu Gowon, Shehu Shagari and Ibrahim Babangida.

Government officials say the visit will strengthen diplomatic ties boost investment opportunities and reinforce Nigeria global partnerships.
