Manchester United secured an impressive 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday, with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and captain Bruno Fernandes sealing another confident performance under interim boss Michael Carrick.

The match shifted early when Spurs captain Cristian Romero was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on Casemiro, leaving the visitors with 10 men before the break. United quickly took advantage, as Mbeumo broke the deadlock with a sharp finish to put the hosts in control.

Fernandes later wrapped up the win with a composed strike late on, ensuring Carrick claimed a fourth straight victory since taking charge last month.

While the result boosted morale, attention has already turned to potential transfer concerns. Reports suggest Barcelona are monitoring Lisandro Martinez as a possible target. The Argentine centre-back played a key role in United’s clean sheet against Spurs and has become a defensive leader since arriving from Ajax in 2022.

Martinez has surpassed 100 appearances for the club and remains under contract until 2027, with an option for an additional year. Despite interest from Spain and a reported £47 million valuation, United’s current stance is firm: the defender is not for sale, underlining his importance to the squad.
