Federal Government Expands HoPE-CT Programme Under Renewed Hope Agenda

The Federal Government has intensified its Renewed Hope Agenda with the rollout of the Household Prosperity and Empowerment Cash Transfer Programme HoPE CT, a social intervention initiative that has already impacted over 9.2 million Nigerians nationwide.

Speaking at the HoPE CT Implementation Briefing and Press Conference on Monday in Abuja, the Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris, represented by Dr Suleiman Haruna, described the programme as one of the most ambitious poverty reduction efforts in Nigeria’s history.

The initiative is on track to reach 15 million vulnerable households, with special uplift grants of ₦50,000 earmarked for 3.6 million families. “The HoPE CT programme is about restoring hope, expanding opportunities, and laying the foundation for inclusive prosperity,” the minister said.

He commended the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction for its efforts in cushioning economic hardship among vulnerable groups and urged the media to highlight the human impact of the programme. “As storytellers, the media must showcase before and after experiences that rekindle hope and strengthen public trust,” he added.

The Renewed Hope Agenda encompasses complementary social intervention initiatives including interest-free loans ranging from ₦300,000 to ₦400,000 for youth and women under the restructured National Social Investment Programme, student loans totaling over ₦95.6 billion, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme GEEP, and the 3 Million Technical Talent Programme 3MTT to equip Nigerians with digital ss.

Other programmes include the S Up Artisans Programme SUPA, National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, Consumer Credit Scheme backed by over ₦200 billion, Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, Livelihood Support Grants for 600,000 micro businesses, and LUMINAH 2030 Initiative targeting over one million women and girls.

The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration with relevant agencies to enhance public awareness and citizen engagement. “Together, we must keep building a Nigeria where no one is left behind,” the minister said.
