The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has commenced the demolition of 50 duplexes and bungalows illegally constructed in Sabon Lugbe, Abuja.
Mr. Mukhtar Galadima, the Director of the Department of Development Control at FCTA, led the demolition exercise on Thursday. He explained that these structures were erected by land grabbers without the necessary approvals from the appropriate authorities.
Galadima noted that the southwest area of Sabon Lugbe falls under Phase 5 District of the Federal Capital City (FCC). He reiterated the department’s commitment to tackling illegal land acquisition and advised potential buyers to conduct due diligence to ensure the legality of any property purchase.
“This demolition is part of our enforcement efforts, starting with 10 buildings. Tomorrow, we will return in full swing to ensure that all illegal structures—approximately 50 duplexes and bungalows—are dismantled,” he stated.
He identified key areas where land grabbers have been active, including Idu Train Station, now part of Gosa and Kyami, as well as the Apo Tarfi area and Lugbe.
The director issued a stern warning against illegal developments in the capital city, emphasizing that land grabbers have misled innocent residents by claiming that these areas would be integrated into Phase 5 of the FCC.
“There is no such integration. Illegality is illegality, and we will continue to remove every illegal structure in the FCT,” he affirmed.
This is outrageous! What about affordable housing solutions instead of demolishing? Think long-term benefits, not just short-term fixes.
I think the FCTA should focus on providing alternatives before demolishing. Displacing people without solutions is unfair.
Agreed, relocation plans should be in place before demolishing homes. Peoples lives matter.
I think the FCTA should focus on providing alternative housing solutions instead of just demolishing structures. People need support, not displacement.
Displacement may be necessary for progress. Sometimes tough decisions are needed for long-term solutions.
I think demolishing illegal structures is necessary for city development, but what about providing alternative housing for those affected?
Why should we reward lawbreakers with housing? They should face consequences for their actions.
I think the FCTA should focus on providing alternative housing instead of just demolishing. People need solutions, not just problems.
Maybe people should follow the rules instead of expecting handouts. Personal responsibility matters too.
I dont get why theyre demolishing structures without providing alternative solutions. Its just creating more problems. Think outside the box, FCTA!
I dont agree with the demolition. Why not find a way to legalize the structures instead of destroying them? #SaveSabonLugbe
I dont agree with the demolition! Why not find a way to legalize and regulate these structures instead of destroying them?
Legalizing wont solve safety issues. Demolition is necessary for public safety.
I think demolishing illegal structures is necessary for urban development. Lets prioritize legal constructions for a better community!
I dont agree with demolishing without providing alternative housing for those affected. Where will these people go? Its inhumane.
I think the FCTA should focus on improving infrastructure instead of just demolishing. Lets prioritize long-term solutions!
Demolition may be necessary for progress. Infrastructure improvements can coexist with demolition efforts.
I think the FCTA should focus on providing affordable housing instead of demolishing structures. Its a human rights issue!
Affordable housing is important, but safety and urban planning matter too. Its a complex issue.
This is just another example of the government trampling on the rights of the poor. Where will these people go?
I dont agree with the demolition! What about providing alternative solutions for the residents instead of just tearing down their homes?
Sometimes tough decisions need to be made for progress. Its not always easy, but its necessary.
I cant believe theyre demolishing those structures without providing alternative housing options. Where will these people go? Unfair!
I think the FCTA should focus on providing affordable housing instead of just demolishing structures. People need homes, not just punishment.
Affordable housing wont fix illegal structures. Demolishing is necessary for safety and urban planning.
I think the FCTA should focus on providing alternative housing solutions instead of just demolishing. Its about helping people, not just tearing things down.
