The Atlanta Falcons have terminated head coach Raheem Morris and general manager Terry Fontenot after the 2025 NFL season, following another disappointing 8-9 finish for the second consecutive year. Owner Arthur Blank acknowledged their commitment to the team but stressed that new leadership is essential to meet the organization’s and fans’ expectations.

Morris, who became head coach in January 2024, achieved an 8-9 record in his inaugural season. Although the Falcons ended the 2025 season on a high note, winning four straight games including a close victory over the New Orleans Saints, they ultimately fell short of the playoffs. Despite tying with the Carolina Panthers for first place in the NFC South, they lost the division tiebreaker.

The decision to release both Morris and Fontenot signifies the Falcons’ determination to revive a winning culture and pursue postseason success, especially since the team has been playoff-less since 2017. The franchise is now focused on finding new leadership capable of steering the team back to competitiveness in the NFC South.

As they transition into this new phase, the priority will be identifying a head coach and general manager who can effectively reshape the organization’s direction and restore its reputation within the league. This marks a pivotal moment for the Falcons as they aim to redefine their strategies and achieve the results that have eluded them in recent years.
