Ethiopian Airlines has announced it will resume direct passenger service between Addis Ababa and Atlanta on May 21 2026, following a temporary suspension of the route since February 2026.

The resumption restores a vital air connection between Africa and the United States for both business and leisure travellers. The route links Addis Ababa Bole International Airport with Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport, offering passengers convenient access to Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive African network.

Commenting on the development, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said Atlanta is one of the most vibrant markets in the United States. He emphasized that the route caters to business travelers, the African diaspora, and tourists seeking seamless connections to destinations across Africa.

Atlanta, a major economic and cultural hub in the United States, hosts one of the largest African diaspora communities in the country. The resumed service will facilitate travel to cities across the southeastern United States and onward connections throughout Africa via Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Airlines currently operates multiple routes across the United States and continues to expand its transatlantic network as part of its long term growth strategy. The airline expects the restored service to strengthen ties between Africa and North America and enhance convenience for travellers.
