Enzo Fernandez has reassured Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior of his commitment to the club, following recent comments that raised doubts about his long term future at Stamford Bridge.

The Argentina international sparked speculation earlier this week after suggesting he could leave the club at the end of the season. His remarks came shortly after Chelsea’s heavy 3 0 home defeat to Paris Saint Germain, which confirmed an 8 2 aggregate elimination from the UEFA Champions League round of 16.

Fernandez, who joined Chelsea in 2023 for a then British record fee of £107 million, still has five years remaining on his contract. Despite this, his post match interview hinted that the remaining Premier League fixtures and the club’s FA Cup campaign might mark his final appearances for the West London side.

However, Rosenior moved quickly to calm concerns after holding a detailed discussion with the midfielder at the training ground. He stated that Fernandez made it clear he is happy at Chelsea, eager to win upcoming matches, and deeply passionate about the club.

Rosenior also explained that Fernandez’s earlier comments were misunderstood due to translation and emotional context, emphasizing that the player remains fully committed to the team.

Off the pitch, the Chelsea manager confirmed that the club has identified the source of leaked team selections ahead of both matches against PSG. He noted that the issue has been addressed internally and was not driven by malicious intent.

Meanwhile, there is some relief on the injury front. Trevoh Chalobah is expected to be sidelined for about six weeks with an ankle injury, while Reece James will miss the upcoming trip to Everton due to a minor hamstring issue
