The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, has congratulated former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo on the occasion of his 89th birthday, describing the elder statesman as a living legend and a remarkable patriot whose contributions to national development remain widely recognized.
In a goodwill message issued on Thursday in Ilorin, the traditional ruler praised Obasanjo for his long standing dedication to peace building, nation building and global diplomacy. The statement was released through the Emir’s Press Secretary, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona.
Sulu Gambari, who also serves as the Chairman of the Kwara Traditional Rulers Council, described the former president as a global citizen whose leadership legacy continues to inspire generations within and outside Nigeria.
According to the monarch, Obasanjo’s life and career demonstrate exceptional service to the nation and humanity. He noted that the former leader’s achievements both as a former Military Head of State and as a two term democratically elected president have left a lasting impact on Nigeria’s political and social landscape.
The Emir commended Obasanjo for consistently promoting peaceful coexistence and encouraging harmony among people of different religions and cultures across the country. He emphasized that such efforts have strengthened national unity and contributed to ility in various communities.
Sulu Gambari also expressed gratitude to the former president for his enduring relationship with the Ilorin Emirate and his continued support for the people and institutions of Kwara State.
He stated that members of the Kwara Traditional Rulers Council joined him in celebrating the elder statesman on his special day and wished him many more years of good health, peace and comfort.
The Emir concluded his message with prayers for continued strength and wisdom for Obasanjo as he continues to serve as a respected voice in national and international affairs.
