In May 1977, Elton John embarked on a six-show residency at London’s Rainbow Theatre, accompanied by percussionist Ray Cooper. This marked the first of 233 shows featuring just the two of them on stage. The setlist included live debuts of tracks such as “Roy Rogers,” “Cage the Songbird,” “Idol,” and “I Feel Like a Bullet (In the Gun of Robert Ford).” The performances were stripped back, offering a more intimate experience that has since been regarded as some of the finest of his career.
