A touching moment unfolded in Awka on Tuesday as a 74 year old woman, Madam Grace Okafor, presented a live fowl during the inauguration ceremony of Chukwuma Soludo.

The event, held at Alex Ekwueme Square, drew dignitaries and residents from across Anambra State. However, it was Okafor’s heartfelt gesture that captured the attention of many attendees.

Arriving at the venue in a wheelchair, the elderly woman moved joyfully toward the podium while holding the fowl in a bucket. Her actions sparked cheers and admiration from the crowd, creating a memorable highlight at the ceremony.

Speaking to journalists, Okafor explained that the gift was her way of expressing gratitude to Governor Soludo for a N100000 cash support she had earlier received. According to her, the governor gave her the money during a community event in Eziowelle, which she used to start a small poultry business.

“I invested the money in poultry, and this fowl is part of the proceeds. I am here to show my appreciation,” she said.

A native of Abatete in Idemili North Local Government Area, Okafor noted that the governor’s support had a meaningful impact on her livelihood, enabling her to generate income and improve her living conditions.

The symbolic presentation of the fowl reflects a deeper story of empowerment and gratitude, highlighting how small scale support initiatives can positively transform lives at the grassroots level.

The moment also added a human touch to the inauguration ceremony, reminding many of the importance of community connection and responsive leadership.
