The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has declared its full support for former Governor Godwin Obaseki, saying his time in office was marked by bold leadership and meaningful progress. The party made this known in a statement released on Tuesday by its Publicity Secretary, Dan Osa-Ogbegie.
According to the PDP, it will not stand by and watch Obaseki’s achievements be discredited by individuals who, in their view, made no real contribution to the development of the state.
“We will not allow his legacy to be undermined by those who contributed nothing to Edo’s progress.
“We stand with him because he governed with courage, protected Edo’s treasury, uplifted Edo’s people and resisted the predatory demands of political godfathers.
“History will vindicate him. Edo people already have,” Osa-Ogbegie stated.
The party also raised concerns about the current political climate in the state, accusing Governor Monday Okpebholo and his allies in the All Progressives Congress (APC) of creating unnecessary tension. It urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to step in and caution APC members in Edo before the situation escalates further.
The PDP claimed that the APC’s approach to politics in the state is rooted in personal grudges rather than a genuine desire to serve the people. It warned that if left unchecked, the actions of the ruling party could lead to serious unrest.
I dont buy it! The Edo PDP defending Obasekis legacy seems like a political move rather than genuine support. Can we trust their intentions?
I disagree with Edo PDP defending Obasekis legacy. Politicians should be held accountable, not blindly supported. Lets demand transparency!
I believe the Edo PDPs defense of Obasekis legacy is important for ility. Political tensions must be avoided at all costs.
I think the Edo PDPs defense of Obasekis legacy is just political posturing. Actions speak louder than words. Lets see results!
I think the Edo PDP is just trying to save face. Obasekis legacy speaks for itself, no need for their defense.
I think the Edo PDPs defense of Obasekis legacy is justified. Its important to acknowledge achievements despite political tensions.
I disagree with the Edo PDP defending Obasekis legacy. Political tensions are inevitable in democracy, and healthy debate is crucial.
I believe the Edo PDPs defense of Obaseki is valid, but political tensions are inevitable in such situations. Lets hope for peaceful resolutions.
I dont buy the idea that Edo PDP can defend Obasekis legacy. Lets see actions, not just words.
