DIG Frank Mba Retires After 34 Years of Distinguished Service in Nigeria Police Force

The Frank Mba, Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development at Force Headquarters, has voluntarily retired from the Nigeria Police Force after 34 years of service. His retirement follows the recent departure of former Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the appointment of Olatunji Rilwan Disu as the new IGP.

In a related development, the Police Service Commission has invited seven Assistant Inspectors-General of Police for promotion interviews to the rank of DIG in preparation for potential inclusion in the Force Management Team under the new Inspector-General. The officers invited include Margareth Ochalla, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, Ishiaku Mohammed, Zacharia Fera Achinyan, Zango Ibrahim Baba, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman, and Umar Shehu Nadada. Interviews are scheduled to hold at the PSC office on Friday.

DIG Mba joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 1992 as a cadet officer, graduating as the best cadet in academics at the Nigeria Police Academy, Kano. He holds a law degree from the University of Lagos, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2002, and later obtained a Master’s degree in Law with distinction from the University of Dundee, Scotland.

Throughout his career, Mba attended several international programmes, including the FBI National Academy in Quantico, the leadership courses at Harvard University and University of Oxford, and represented Nigeria in UN peacekeeping operations in Liberia between 2006 and 2007.

He served in strategic roles across operations, investigations, administration, and public relations, including postings as Area Commander in Ajah and Festac Lagos, Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, head of the Border Patrol Force at Force Headquarters, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the FCID Annex, Panti, Lagos.

In his farewell message, Mba expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and thanked Nigerians for their trust and support throughout his career. He described policing as a difficult yet noble profession and said he leaves the service with pride for contributing to national security and ility.
