Human rights lawyer and activist Deji Adeyanju has called on the United States and Israel to prioritise the protection of children and other vulnerable groups following reported bombings in Iran.

Speaking on Monday, Adeyanju urged both nations to avoid targeting civilian populations and to respect international humanitarian law particularly the Geneva Conventions in the ongoing hostilities.

The activist stressed that children hospitals and other vulnerable members of society must not be caught in the crossfire of military operations. He warned that attacks on critical infrastructure such as schools markets and healthcare facilities could significantly worsen the humanitarian situation and deepen the suffering of ordinary citizens.

Meanwhile the Iranian Red Crescent Society reported that the strikes have affected at least 24 of the country 31 provinces. According to the agency 201 deaths and 747 injuries have been recorded so far highlighting the growing human cost of the conflict.

Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei also raised concerns over civilian casualties stating that airstrikes on a school in southern Iran may have killed up to 160 people.

Adeyanju reiterated that the protection of non combatants must remain a priority under international law urging all parties involved to exercise restraint and uphold humanitarian principles. He emphasised that adherence to global conventions governing armed conflict is essential to prevent further escalation and long term instability in the region.
