American rapper and online streamer Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., popularly known as DDG, has shared his thoughts on which of his two careers brings in more money, revealing that streaming outweighs music financially.

The 28-year-old made the claim during a recent livestream conversation with Nigerian content creator and streamer, Carterefe. According to DDG, the financial rewards from streaming platforms surpass what most artistes earn from music.

“Streaming pays more than music. For real, streamers make more money than artistes,” he stated, sparking reactions among fans and viewers across social media.

DDG’s comments come from personal experience, as he has built successful careers in both industries. He began his journey as a content creator in 2014, posting videos on YouTube that quickly gained traction. His growing popularity online eventually pushed him to make a major life decision, as he dropped out of Central Michigan University to focus fully on his digital career.

Two years later, DDG transitioned into music professionally. In 2016, he launched his rap career and gained widespread recognition with his breakout single, Givenchy. The song appeared on his debut EP, Take Me Serious, released in 2017, and helped establish him as a rising name in the hip-hop scene.

Despite his success as a recording artist, DDG believes streaming offers creators more control, consistency, and direct revenue opportunities compared to the music industry. His remarks have reignited debates about income streams in entertainment, especially as more young creatives turn to streaming and content creation as full-time careers.

DDG’s journey highlights the shifting landscape of modern entertainment, where digital platforms are increasingly redefining success and profitability.
