Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels is set to return as the starter for the upcoming Sunday night game against the Seattle Seahawks, as confirmed by head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn expressed enthusiasm about Daniels’ return, remarking on his unique ability to elevate the team’s performance and make him difficult to defend.
Daniels, 24, has been recovering from a right hamstring strain he sustained during a loss to the Dallas Cowboys on October 19, which caused him to miss the following game against the Kansas City Chiefs. During his recovery, Daniels focused on rehabilitation and was able to fully participate in practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday, demonstrating notable progress.
Having earned the title of 2024 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Daniels has made a significant impact this season. In five games, he has passed for 1,031 yards, thrown eight touchdown passes, and recorded one interception, while also contributing 211 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, highlighting his dual-threat capabilities.
Daniels’ return comes at a critical time as the Commanders seek to improve their 3-5 record and remain competitive within the NFC East. However, they face a tough challenge against a Seahawks team leading the division with a 5-2 record. Compounding the Commanders’ difficulties, wide receiver Terry McLaurin will also be absent due to a re-injury of his quadriceps.
As the team prepares for this important matchup, Daniels’ return is anticipated to provide a substantial boost to the offense, instilling hope for a turnaround in their season.
