Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed that young Brazilian winger Estevao will miss the upcoming Premier League match against Newcastle United due to a minor muscle problem.
The 18-year-old, who has impressed this season with five goal contributions in 19 appearances, including three goals in the Champions League, was absent from Chelsea’s recent 3-1 Carabao Cup win over Cardiff City.
Maresca described the injury as “a light injury” and said Estevao won’t be available for the Newcastle game but is expected to return for the following match against Aston Villa.
Despite Estevao’s absence, Chelsea have several attacking options including Pedro Neto, Alejandro Garnacho, Tyrique George, Jamie Gittens, Facundo Buonanotte, and Cole Palmer.
Estevao has quickly become one of Chelsea’s most exciting young talents since his transfer from Palmeiras in the summer. Although not yet a regular starter, his performances have sparked excitement among fans, especially given his rapid adaptation to the demands of the Premier League.
With an estimated value of €80 million, he is one of the club’s most valuable players, behind only Cole Palmer, Moises Caicedo, and Enzo Fernandez.
