Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has shared his thoughts on goalkeeper Robert Sanchez’s progress, saying the shot-stopper has made major strides in an area that used to be a weak spot.
Speaking during a football chat on November 19, 2025, Maresca pointed out that Sanchez has become much better at dealing with long crosses from opposing attackers. He explained that this part of Sanchez’s game used to cause problems, especially when balls came in from the left side and dropped into the box untouched.
Maresca said, “Robert Sanchez has improved in a very important area which has always been his weakness. Long crosses from fast attackers to their central Striker, often walk pass his hands into the box, but I am glad he now stops them easily these days. I can confidently say that he is currently one of the best in the world there.”
The Chelsea manager is clearly pleased with his decision to make Sanchez the team’s number one goalkeeper. Aside from a red card against Manchester United in September, Sanchez has had a solid season and is now seen as one of the best when it comes to stopping aerial balls.
In the past, Sanchez struggled with crosses and often looked shaky in the air. But now, that part of his game has turned into a strength, and Chelsea fans are starting to notice the difference.
