Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca said he will not abandon his season plan even after a run of poor results.
The team has suffered two defeats and a draw in December. They have not won in the league since November 22. After taking one point from away games at Leeds and Bournemouth, there is concern ahead of Saturday’s match with Everton at Stamford Bridge.
Last month the team had a strong run that moved them to second place and earned Maresca the manager of the month award. That period included a 3-0 win over Barcelona and a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Arsenal while playing with 10 men.
“For us, November was fantastic but we haven’t started December the way we would like,” he said. “It’s football. It’s completely normal. We’re always looking for problems. Leeds was eight-nine days ago. In nine days we’re not going to ce our season because we didn’t get the points we expect. I’m completely relaxed.
“We dropped points because it’s football.”
Maesca said now is not the time to overreact. He noted the team has had three matches in a row without the expected results and that form can ce.
Cole Palmer is fit and may start on Saturday after missing the midweek trip to Atalanta. Wesley Fofana has recovered from a facial injury and is available. The coach did not provide a timetable for Liam Delap’s return after the shoulder injury he suffered in the goalless draw with Bournemouth.
I dont get why Maresca wont adjust the plan when Chelsea keeps struggling. Flexibility is key, right? 🤷♂️
Im not buying it! Chelsea needs to shake things up. Marescas plan isnt cutting it. Time for a ce.
I dont know, man. Chelseas coach should maybe try some new tactics. The plan doesnt seem to be working out.
I dont care about Marescas plans, I just want to see Chelsea winning games. Results matter more than sticking to a plan!
Is sticking to the plan really the best move for Chelsea right now? Maybe a ce in strategy could bring more wins. 🤔
I think Maresca should shake things up a bit! Sticking to the same plan when its not working doesnt seem smart to me.
Hmm, I respect Marescas commitment to the plan, but maybe its time for a shake-up. What do you guys think?
I dont get why Maresca wont switch things up when Chelseas not winning. Flexibility is key, man! 🤷♂️
