In a landmark development for the Central African Republic (CAR), the government and 14 armed groups signed a historic peace agreement on November 16, 2025, aimed at ending years of conflict and fostering national reconciliation.

This comprehensive accord includes provisions for the disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration (DDR) of combatants, alongside the creation of a transitional government and the implementation of vital economic and social reforms.

A pivotal element of the agreement is the establishment of a joint monitoring committee, consisting of government representatives, armed group members, and international partners, to oversee the implementation and ensure compliance from all parties.

This peace agreement is anticipated to facilitate the return of displaced populations, restore essential services, and rejuvenate the CAR’s economy. Although challenges persist, the accord symbolizes a hopeful turning point for a nation long afflicted by violence and instability.

As the implementation phase commences, the international community remains prepared to support the CAR in its quest for peace and prosperity.
