Authorities in have arrested a man found in possession of illegal firearms shortly before a rally held by former President Donald Trump on Saturday. The incident occurred around 5 pm at a security checkpoint near Avenue 52 and Celebration Drive in Valley.

Deputies stopped a SUV at the checkpoint, and upon investigation, they identified the driver as Vem Miller, a 49--old resident of Las Vegas. Miller was discovered to be carrying a shotgun, a loaded handgun, and a high-capacity magazine, all in violation of state laws.

Miller was immediately taken into custody, and have that the investigation is ongoing.

In a report published by Sky News, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco commented on the situation a press conference on Sunday. He told reporters that his deputies may have “stopped the third assassination attempt,” suggesting that the incident could have posed a severe .
