Popular Nollywood actress Bolaji Ogunmola has publicly called out United Nigeria Airline over the cancellation of her flight twice within two days, an experience she says left her stranded and disrupted her work schedule.
The actress explained that she travelled to Ekiti State for a work engagement and was scheduled to return to Lagos on Wednesday for another film production. However, she alleged that the airline repeatedly delayed and eventually cancelled her flight without adequate communication.
In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page on Thursday morning, Ogunmola accused the airline of toying with her time and jeopardising her livelihood. She disclosed that she was informed at the airport on Wednesday that her flight had been delayed due to an unspecified issue. After waiting for several hours, she was later told the flight had been cancelled.
According to her, when she asked about alternative arrangements, airline officials allegedly said there was nothing they could do. Efforts to secure another flight through Akure also proved unsuccessful.
Ogunmola said she was later informed that a rescheduled flight would depart at 8:00 a.m. the following day, forcing her to pay for accommodation and other expenses. She stated that she woke up as early as 5:00 a.m. and arrived at the airport by 6:30 a.m., only to be told that the flight time had changed to 9:30 a.m.
The situation, she said, continued to deteriorate as the flight was subsequently moved to 12:00 p.m. and later shifted again to 5:30 p.m., despite the fact that she was expected on set in Lagos. Ogunmola lamented that her production crew and colleagues were already waiting for her, while she remained stranded.
Fighting back tears, the actress said she recorded the video as evidence of her ordeal, stressing that she was stuck in a state where she knew no one and had no certainty about when she would reach Lagos. She revealed that she was left with no choice but to travel by road, which she described as unsafe.
Ogunmola threatened legal action against the airline, stating that her lawyer would take up the matter. She accused United Nigeria Airline of being unfair, unremorseful and lacking basic decency, insisting that the repeated cancellations had directly affected her source of livelihood.
