In a notable turn in the legal disputes over the film “It Ends With Us,” Taylor Swift has agreed to testify in a lawsuit brought by Blake Lively against Justin Baldoni. Lively accuses Baldoni of sexual harassment and orchestrating a smear campaign against her during the film’s production. Swift’s attorney clarified that while Swift has agreed to be available for questioning from October 20-25 if required, she has no significant involvement in the case (apnews.com).

The legal troubles began in December 2024, when Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, claiming that Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath created a hostile work environment. Her allegations include unwanted physical contact and inappropriate remarks, alongside claims of a coordinated effort by Baldoni’s team to damage her reputation in retaliation for her complaints (bbc.com).

In response to these allegations, Baldoni filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist, alleging a smear campaign against him. However, a U.S. District Judge dismissed his defamation suit in June 2025, affirming that Lively’s claims were legally protected (reuters.com).

The involvement of Swift introduces a new element to the case, as she contributed the song “My Tears Ricochet” to the film’s soundtrack. Baldoni’s legal team had subpoenaed her, claiming Lively used her influence to pressure Baldoni into agreeing to script changes. Swift denied any connection to the controversy, and after a court rebuke, Baldoni withdrew the subpoena request (apnews.com).

Despite the ongoing legal issues, “It Ends With Us,” based on Colleen Hoover’s novel, continues to perform well at the box office, grossing over $351 million globally, and igniting discussions about workplace conduct in the entertainment industry.
