In the aftermath of the People’s United Party‘s (PUP) decisive victory in the 2025 Belizean general elections, Prime Minister John Briceño has unveiled a new Cabinet lineup aimed at steering the nation through its next term. The PUP secured 26 of the 31 seats in the House of Representatives, while the United Democratic Party (UDP) claimed the remaining five.
Prime Minister Briceño retains the portfolios of Finance, Investment and Economic Transformation, Civil Aviation, and E-Governance. Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde continues to oversee Natural Resources, Petroleum, and Mining. Francis Fonseca remains responsible for Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Culture, and Immigration, with Marconi Leal Jr. serving as Minister of State for Foreign Trade. Jose Abelardo Mai continues to lead Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise, supported by Alex Balona as Minister of State.
Julius Espat retains his role as Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing, while Kareem Musa continues as Minister of Home Affairs and New Growth Industries. Anthony Mahler remains in charge of Tourism, Youth, Sports, and Diaspora Relations, with Devin Daly appointed as Minister of State for Youth and Sports. Kevin Bernard continues to lead the Ministry of Health and Wellness. Orlando Habet oversees Sustainable Development, Climate Change, and Solid Waste Management, with Ramiro Ramirez serving as Minister of State.
Michel Chebat continues as Minister of Public Utilities, Energy, and Logistics, with Gilroy Usher as Minister of State. Henry Charles Usher remains responsible for Public Service, Governance, and NEMO. Oscar Mira continues to lead National Defence and Border Security. Oscar Requena retains the portfolio of Education, Science, and Technology, with Ramon Cervantes as Minister of State. Andre Perez continues to oversee the Blue Economy and Marine Conservation. Louis Zabaneh remains responsible for Indigenous Constitution and Religious Affairs and Transport. Florencio Marin continues to lead Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government. Thea Ramirez remains in charge of Human Development, Family Support, and Gender Affairs.
The role of Attorney General is filled by Anthony Sylvester. Ambassador Stuart Leslie continues as Cabinet Secretary and Chief of Staff. Chief Executive Officers will be announced at a later date.
This Cabinet reshuffle reflects Prime Minister Briceño’s commitment to continuity and stability, ensuring that key ministries remain under the leadership of experienced individuals.
