Bayern Munich’s midfielder Jamal Musiala has undergone successful surgery after sustaining a fractured fibula and a dislocated ankle during the Club World Cup quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain. The 22-year-old Germany international was injured in the first half of the match when PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma inadvertently rolled over Musiala’s left ankle during a challenge. The collision left Musiala in visible agony, and he was stretchered off the field. Following the match, Bayern Munich confirmed that Musiala had returned to Munich for surgery and would be sidelined for several months.

Despite the severity of the injury, Musiala expressed a positive outlook on his recovery. In an Instagram post, he stated, “The surgery went really well, I’m in good care and I wanted to say there’s no one to blame for this. I think situations like this happen and now I’m just going to use the next period of time to build up my strength and positivity again.”

Musiala had been in excellent form prior to the injury, contributing 21 goals and eight assists across all competitions, playing a pivotal role in Bayern’s Bundesliga title victory. His absence is expected to be a significant setback for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
