BAFTA Film Awards 2026 Nominations Announced With One Battle After Another Leading

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts revealed the official nominations for the 2026 EE BAFTA Film Awards on January 27, 2026, setting the stage for one of the most competitive awards seasons in recent years. The nominations were announced live from BAFTA headquarters at 195 Piccadilly in London, and broadcast internationally, drawing widespread attention from the global film community. 

Action-packed dark comedy One Battle After Another led the field with 14 nominations, including Best Film and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson, along with multiple acting nods for Leonardo DiCaprio, Chase Infiniti, Teyana Taylor, Sean Penn and Benicio del Toro. Following closely, the vampire drama Sinners earned 13 nominations, recognizing Ryan Coogler’s direction and lead performances, among other categories. 

Other films featuring prominently included Hamnet and Marty Supreme, each with 11 nominations, and Sentimental Value among other contenders. The nominations span categories from Best Film and Best Director to acting and technical awards such as sound and visual effects, highlighting the diversity of storytelling and craft in global cinema.

The full list of nominations underscores a strong year for international and British cinema, with films like Frankenstein, I Swear and animated features such as Elio and Zootropolis 2 also gaining recognition across categories. The BAFTA ceremony itself is scheduled for February 22, 2026, at the Royal Festival Hall in London and will be broadcast live on BBC One and iPlayer. 

Observed as a key precursor to the Academy Awards, the BAFTA nominations reflect both critical acclaim and industry momentum, with several films poised for continued prominence throughout awards season.
