Demola Olarewaju, the digital media strategist for former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint Bianca Ojukwu as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in a recent cabinet reshuffle. Olarewaju argued that Ojukwu’s appointment is an attempt by Tinubu to appeal to the Southeast electorate ahead of the 2027 elections but believes the strategy will have little effect on voter sentiment.
In a statement on X, Olarewaju questioned Ojukwu’s “electoral value,” asserting that her influence in the Southeast is minimal and unlikely to sway “Obidient” voters or gain substantial support for Tinubu in the region. He described Tinubu’s decision as a “political gambit,” aimed at preparing the ground for further moves.
Olarewaju expanded on Tinubu’s approach, stating that political power drives all of his actions: “If he opposes subsidy in 2012 – it is power. If he upholds it in 2024, it is for power,” he wrote. He added that Tinubu’s alliances and decisions consistently prioritize political advantage.
Despite the appointment, Olarewaju remains skeptical of any significant political shift, pointing out that APC already has two governors in the Southeast, three senators from Ebonyi, two from Imo, and one from Abia. He argued that Tinubu and the APC will likely use Ojukwu’s appointment to justify political maneuvers in the region, concluding that it is “one piece of a larger plan to provide an excuse for APC/INEC rigging.”
I think Bianca Ojukwu deserves the appointment regardless of political motives. Her qualifications and experience should be the focus.
I think Bianca Ojukwu brings a fresh perspective to the table. Lets not dismiss her appointment based on politics alone.
Politics is always a factor. Cant ignore it. But her perspective might still be valuable.
I think its refreshing to see politicians making unexpected moves. It keeps things interesting and unpredictable in the political arena.
I think its refreshing to see different voices in politics, even if its a strategic move. Diversity matters!
I think its all just political drama. Who really cares about Bianca Ojukwus appointment? Lets focus on real issues.
I think Bianca Ojukwus appointment brings diversity to politics. Lets not underestimate her potential impact! #RepresentationMatters
I think Bianca Ojukwu is a strong candidate, regardless of Tinubus intentions. Lets focus on her qualifications instead of politics.
I think Bianca Ojukwu brings experience and diversity to the table. Lets see how it plays out politically!
I think Bianca Ojukwu is a strong candidate regardless of political motives. Lets focus on qualifications rather than politics.
Politics and qualifications go hand in hand – cant separate the two. Both matter.
I think its refreshing to see politicians making bold moves, even if its just for show. Politics is all about optics anyway!
Bold moves for show? Thats not leadership, its just a distraction from real issues.
I think the criticism is valid. Biancas appointment seems more like a strategic move than a genuine effort to make a difference.
Disagree. Biancas qualifications speak for themselves. Stop assuming motives without evidence.
I think both Atikus aide and Tinubu are playing political games. Lets focus on real issues and not just optics.
I think its all just political drama. Who really cares about these appointments anyway? Lets focus on real issues!
