Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying the party is the only one with the right ideas to fix Nigeria’s economic and security problems.
Atiku made this known on Saturday, November 29, 2025, during the opening of the ADC’s new office in Jalingo, Taraba State. His move comes just days after he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with less than two years to go before the 2027 general elections.
He explained that after being part of both the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC), he no longer believes those parties can solve Nigeria’s major issues. He said the ADC has shown that it is serious about finding real solutions and putting the country back on track.
Atiku used the event to urge people in Taraba to take part in the ongoing voter registration. He said that real change can only happen when citizens are involved in choosing their leaders.
He stressed that Nigeria’s future depends on the active participation of everyday people, especially when it comes to voting and holding leaders accountable.
Atiku said he believes the ADC has what it takes to win in Taraba and eventually lead the country. He promised that the party has a solid plan to fix the economy, improve security, and provide good leadership for all Nigerians.
He said, “The youths and women should know that we are doing this for them to have a better future, and I am holding on to their promise.”
“ADC will win Taraba state, win Nigeria as the only reliable political party,” he added.
