In the early hours of November 14, 2025, Kyiv experienced a major aerial attack by Russian forces, involving around 430 drones and 18 missiles, making it one of the most significant assaults on the city in recent months. This attack resulted in at least six fatalities and numerous injuries, including hospitalization for nine individuals, such as a pregnant woman and two children aged 7 and 10. The assault heavily impacted high-rise apartment buildings near the explosion sites.

Destruction spread across multiple Kyiv districts, including Podilskyi, Dniprovskyi, Solomianskyi, Sviatoshynskyi, Obolonskyi, and Desnianskyi. Falling debris from intercepted missiles also damaged the Azerbaijani Embassy, though fortunately, no casualties occurred there.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack as a “deliberately calculated assault” designed to maximize harm to civilians and infrastructure. He called for enhanced air defense systems and greater international support to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities. The Ukrainian Air Force reported successfully intercepting a majority of the aerial threats, with 419 of the 449 detected threats neutralized, including 405 drones and 14 missiles. Despite these defenses, the attack led to fires, partial power outages, and significant infrastructure damage, reflecting the ongoing challenges Ukraine faces in safeguarding its territory.
