The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially released its provisional timetable for the 2026 Anambra State Local Government primary elections, setting the stage for political activities ahead of the polls.

In a statement issued on Thursday in Awka, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mazi Ejimofor Opara, said the timetable was approved in strict compliance with the APGA constitution and the election schedule released by the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC).

According to the timetable, the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will commence on January 27 and end on February 6, 2026. The exercise will take place at the party’s Awka Regional Secretariat.
Screening of aspirants for both chairmanship and councillorship positions is scheduled to hold from February 7 to February 11 across the state’s 21 local government areas and 326 wards. Appeals arising from the screening process will be considered and resolved on February 13.

APGA fixed the cost of chairmanship nomination forms at N6 million, while councillorship forms will cost N600,000. The party, however, granted a 50 per cent discount to female aspirants and persons with disabilities as part of its inclusive political policy.

The statement emphasized that all payments for nomination forms are non-refundable. It also noted that the timetable remains provisional and subject to ce if the need arises.
