The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that its National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. The party’s National Secretary, Sen. Surajudeen Bashiru, disclosed this in a notice released on Friday night in Abuja, signaling a critical gathering to address pressing internal and national matters.

According to the notice, the National Caucus meeting is slated for Tuesday at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, a venue that underscores the high-level nature of the discussions. The following day, Wednesday, the NEC meeting will commence at 10 a.m. at the APC’s national secretariat, located at 40 Blantyre Street, Wuse 2, Abuja. These meetings are being convened in line with Articles 12.5 and 12.3 of the party’s Constitution, which mandate periodic assemblies to deliberate on party affairs and broader governance issues.

An authoritative source within the party confirmed that President Bola Tinubu has given his approval for the scheduled dates, highlighting the significance of the gatherings amid ongoing political developments. The National Caucus, comprising top party leaders and stakeholders, is expected to set the tone for the NEC meeting, where broader strategic decisions will likely be ratified.

While specific agenda items were not detailed in the notice, the meetings come at a time when the APC faces the dual challenge of managing internal cohesion and addressing national concerns, including economic policies and regional security. The involvement of President Tinubu, a key figure in the party, suggests that the discussions could influence the administration’s next steps on critical issues.

The timing of the announcement—late Friday—indicates an urgency to mobilize party members and prepare for what promises to be a defining moment for the APC’s leadership. As the ruling party, these meetings offer an opportunity to align its ranks, strategize for upcoming political engagements, and reinforce its position ahead of future electoral contests.

With the National Caucus meeting at the Presidential Villa and the NEC session at the party headquarters, the APC is poised to blend high-level policy dialogue with grassroots organizational focus. Political observers will be watching closely as the outcomes of these deliberations could shape both the party’s trajectory and Nigeria’s governance landscape in the months ahead.
