The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the suspension of its scheduled reception for Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, in light of recent tragic events involving terrorist violence and mass abductions.

Originally planned for Wednesday, the event was shelved as a mark of respect for the lives lost in recent attacks, including members of the armed forces and civilians. The party emphasized that the decision was also in solidarity with families affected by the abduction of schoolchildren in Kebbi State.

Felix Morka, the APC’s national spokesperson, expressed the party’s deep sorrow over the incidents, stating that the APC “salutes the courage and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform who put their lives on the line in defence of our liberty and security.”

He added that the party is united in grief with the families of victims and continues to hope for the safe return of the abducted students. Morka reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to tackling insecurity, noting that President Bola Tinubu’s administration remains focused on defeating insurgency and restoring peace across Nigeria.

The postponement underscores the gravity of the current security challenges and the party’s recognition of the need for national reflection during a time of mourning.
