The ruling All Progressives Congress has announced a new set of national officers following its 4th Elective National Convention at Eagle Square on Friday night.
Under a consensus arrangement, Nentawe Yilwatda was returned as National Chairman, while Surajudeen Basiru emerged as National Secretary. The announcement was made by the Convention Election Committee, which oversaw the smooth conduct of the elections.
Top party leaders including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas were present, along with delegates and stakeholders from across the country.
Other newly elected executives include Deputy National Chairman North Ali Bukar Dalori, Deputy National Chairman South Dr Benjamin Obi Nwoye, Deputy National Secretary Prof AbdulKarim Abubakar Kana, National Legal Adviser Murtala Aliyu Kankia, and National Treasurer Uguru Mathew Ofoke.
Additional officers are National Financial Secretary Amb Haruna Ginsau, National Organising Secretary Muhammad Sulaiman Argungu OFR, Deputy National Organising Secretary Barr Emeka Okafor, National Welfare Secretary Donatus Enyinnah Nwankpa, Deputy National Welfare Secretary Dr Christopher Michael Akpan, National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka, Deputy National Publicity Secretary Hon Meseko Durosinmi Josiah, National Auditor Sen Abubakar Maikafi, National Women Leader Dr Mary A Idele, Deputy National Women Leader Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim, National Youth Leader Dayo Israel, National Leader Persons with Disabilities Aare Durotolu Oyebode Bankole, and Deputy National Financial Secretary Hammam Adamu Ali Kumo.
Ex-officio members representing the six geopolitical zones were also confirmed, including Dr Opawoye Oluwatoyin Bunmi (North Central), Adamu Jallah (North East), Kano Muhammed Jamu Yusuf (North West), Hon Ikechukwu Umeh (South East), Mr Francis Kolokolo (South South), and Hon Bunmi Orinowo (South West).
The newly elected National Working Committee is expected to steer the party’s activities and oversee preparations for upcoming elections while strengthening party unity and governance.
