The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council in Anambra State, has announced plans to purchase a nomination form for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re-election bid ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election. The council’s chairman, Okoye Okpara, revealed this during a briefing with journalists in Awka on Friday, signaling strong student support for the governor’s leadership as the state approaches a pivotal electoral moment.

Okpara, who also leads the Solution Students Movement of Nigeria, emphasized that the initiative reflects the students’ admiration for Soludo’s exemplary governance. He praised the governor’s dedication to student welfare and his transformative policies, notably the ‘One Youth Two Skills’ program, which has empowered students alongside other residents. The students see their offer to fund Soludo’s nomination form as a gesture of gratitude for his commitment to Anambra’s development, urging him to formally declare his intent to seek a second term.

With the election just nine months away, Okpara pressed Soludo to make his intentions clear soon, warning that delays could spark unrest. He issued a 30-day ultimatum, stating that failure to announce his candidacy would prompt students to stage protests across major cities like Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, and Ekwulobia. Okpara clarified that these demonstrations would aim not to cause destruction but to pressure the governor into confirming his plans, ensuring transparency for Anambra’s populace.

The students’ bold move underscores their belief in Soludo’s vision and their desire to see it continue beyond his current term. They view his leadership as a beacon of progress, particularly in education and youth development, and are willing to back their conviction with action. Purchasing the nomination form, Okpara explained, is a practical step to enable Soludo to re-contest, reflecting their confidence in his ability to sustain the state’s upward trajectory.

As the clock ticks toward November 2025, the students’ ultimatum adds urgency to the political landscape. Their readiness to mobilize—peacefully yet forcefully—highlights the stakes they perceive in the upcoming election. For now, they await Soludo’s response, hopeful he will embrace their support and declare his ambition. If he hesitates, the streets of Anambra may soon echo with the voices of a determined student body, pushing for clarity and continuity in leadership.
