Akpabio Tasks South South To Deliver Highest Votes For Tinubu Re Election

The President of the Senate Senator Godswill Akpabio has called on the people of the South South geo political zone to deliver the highest votes for the re election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027. He made the call on Wednesday at the All Progressives Congress APC South South Zonal Congress held in Asaba Delta State with all six Governors of the zone in attendance.

Akpabio thanked President Tinubu and the APC for recognising the South South after about 45 years since the zone last produced a Senate President. He noted that the APC had treated the region well and that the people had reciprocated by joining the party. He recalled that in 2023 the APC in South South started with just one Governor but now has all six Governors in its fold.

The Senate President urged party members to aim for the highest votes among the six geopolitical zones. “Now that we are complete and focused the question is what quantum of votes will the South South give to the APC?” he said.

On the creation of Anioma State he expressed support for the project with headquarters in Asaba and the Delta State capital in Warri. He described the move as an opportunity for further development and progress in the region.

Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori highlighted the importance of unity within the South South and stressed that the APC remains the most structured and democratic party in Nigeria.

The event also featured the election by consensus of the new South South Zonal executive, re electing Chief Victor Giadom as National Vice Chairman. Other executives include Dr Ita Udosen Zonal Secretary Hon Barr Safugha Newword Legal Adviser Dr Samuel Nwanosike Publicity Secretary Prince Koyoyo Uhrorho Youth Leader Hon Sodangwuo Omoni Women Leader Hon Prince Edward Ajang Organising Secretary and Prince Ayo Peter Olowojoba Leader People Living with Disability.
