Prominent activist Aisha Yesufu has been appointed deputy chairperson of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) membership revalidation committee.
The national chairman of the party, Senator David Mark, announced the appointment on Wednesday while inaugurating the 20-member committee, describing the exercise as a critical step toward repositioning the ADC for growth, unity, stronger cohesion and improved electoral competitiveness nationwide.
According to Mark, the committee is chaired by Kashim Imam, with Dr Sekonte Davies serving as secretary. He said the revalidation initiative reflects the party’s founding principles of justice, equity, accountability and people-centred governance.
The former Senate President stressed that credible and verifiable membership data is essential for the party’s legitimacy, relevance and long-term political success at the national level.
He explained that the committee, constituted by the National Working Committee (NWC), will oversee nationwide membership revalidation, fresh registrations, grassroots mobilisation and data harmonisation. The exercise will also involve the deployment of both electronic and manual platforms to ensure transparency and proper documentation.
Mark further disclosed that new membership cards with state-specific security features would be introduced, urging committee members to carry out their duties with integrity, fairness and inclusiveness while working closely with state and local party leaders across the country.
In his acceptance remarks, committee chairman Kashim Imam pledged diligent and transparent service, describing the assignment as a turning point in rebuilding the ADC into an inclusive, people-driven political movement.
Imam added that the committee has 30 days to submit its report, assuring party members that work has already commenced to mobilise and register Nigerians across cities, rural communities, deserts and creeks nationwide.
