The Chairman of Agege Local Government Council in Lagos, Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa, has unveiled a ₦100 million grant to support youths and women engaged in micro and small scale enterprises within the council area.

Obasa announced the initiative at a Skills Elevation Programme graduation ceremony held at the council secretariat on Friday. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, about 1,000 beneficiaries received vocational and digital training under the scheme.

The council boss said the intervention is aimed at strengthening grassroots businesses and boosting human capital development in Agege. He noted that the ₦100 million grant would be injected into the local economy in collaboration with Speed Up Lagos Anti Poverty Squad to empower emerging entrepreneurs.

Obasa explained that beneficiaries were trained in catering, food processing, fashion design, makeup and gele styling. Others acquired skills in digital technology, hairstyling, home essentials production and sandal making. He said the training was designed to provide practical and income generating skills that would enable participants to become self reliant.
