The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially launched its membership revalidation and online registration exercise in Enugu State, describing the initiative as a key step toward reshaping the political landscape in the state and across Nigeria.

Chairman of the Enugu State Membership Mobilisation Revalidation and Registration Committee, Barrister Sunday Okereke, said the exercise began with grassroots mobilisation aimed at strengthening the party’s structure and expanding its support base. He noted that the party had introduced new membership cards with unique codes to replace and invalidate all previous cards.

“We will revalidate those who are already registered by issuing them new cards and then register new members to bring them into the wards,” Okereke stated. He added that the registration process would require the use of the National Identification Number (NIN) urging members to participate sincerely and responsibly. “Let us not sell our rights to vote which are sacrosanct,” he emphasized.

Speaking at the event, former Leader of the Enugu State House of Assembly and party stakeholder Dr. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu highlighted Nigerians’ growing dissatisfaction with the current political climate and the need for alternatives. “The people are tired and we want to ce the narrative not just for us but for generations yet unborn because we cannot continue like this,” he said.

Ezeugwu encouraged residents to register in their wards and noted that online registration for urban residents could be completed within minutes. He revealed that membership cards had already been distributed across the 260 wards in Enugu State following the inauguration of the membership and registration committee, adding, “Our hope and target is to get two-thirds of the people in Enugu State as members of the ADC.”

Senator Gil Nnaji who represents Enugu East Senatorial District also spoke at the event, confirming that a massive mobilisation drive had begun to encourage supporters to register. He added that many members had already started registering through physical booklets which would later be transferred into the new digital register as part of the exercise.

The initiative reflects ADC’s focus on strengthening party structures and broadening its appeal among voters ahead of upcoming elections in Nigeria.
